Drywall Repair and Paint Preparation
Drywall repair is the work that happens before paint and decides how the paint looks. We patch and float nail pops, hairline cracks, corner-bead dings and holes, match the surrounding texture, and prime the repair so it disappears instead of telegraphing through the finish coats. On our own repaints this is included in prep rather than billed as an extra.

Nail pops and screw pops
Reset, filled and floated flat — the most common defect in any house over ten years old.
Hairline and settlement cracks
Opened up, taped where needed, then floated rather than just filled.
Corner bead damage
Dented and split metal or vinyl bead repaired so the corner reads straight again.
Holes and patches
Doorknob holes, old fixture and TV-mount holes, plumbing access cuts.
Texture matching
Knockdown, orange peel and smooth finishes matched so the repair is not a visible island.
Caulking and sealing
Gaps at trim, ceilings and corners closed before a brush touches the wall.
A patch that shows is a patch that was rushed
The reason repairs telegraph through paint is almost always that the compound was not feathered out far enough or was sanded while still soft. A patch has to be floated wider than feels necessary, sanded properly once it is hard, and spot-primed before the finish coats — otherwise it flashes at a different sheen than the wall around it, which you will notice every time the light comes in sideways.
Common questions
Do you do drywall repair without painting?
Yes, though most of our repair work happens as part of a repaint. If you only need repairs — before a house sale, or after a leak has been fixed — we will do the patching, floating, sanding and priming and leave it ready for paint.
Will the repair be invisible once it is painted?
On a wall being fully repainted, yes. On a spot repair to an existing painted wall, the patch itself will disappear but the fresh paint over it can still read slightly different from paint that has been on the wall for years, particularly in a sheen above flat. Painting the full wall corner to corner is what makes a spot repair genuinely invisible, and we will tell you when that is worth doing.
