Interior repainting covers the walls, ceilings and trim inside your home, plus the preparation that makes the finish last. A single room is usually one to two days; an average three-bedroom interior runs four to seven working days, and roughly half of that is preparation rather than painting. We are a two-person, owner-operated shop based in Blue Ridge, so the person who walks the job with you is the person who paints it.

Most of an interior repaint is preparation

Paint fails at the surface underneath it, not in the can. A wall that was not degreased, a gap that was not caulked or a nail pop that was not floated will telegraph through two good coats within a year. That is why our estimates itemise the prep rather than quoting a single square-foot number — you can see what you are actually paying for, and you can tell when somebody else has left it out.

Common questions

How long does an interior repaint take?

A single room is usually one to two days. An average three-bedroom interior — walls, ceilings and trim — typically runs four to seven working days. Timelines move for two reasons only: extensive drywall repair found once the furniture is out of the way, and humidity slowing cure times. Because we take a limited number of jobs at a time, the schedule given at the estimate is the one we keep.

Do I need to move out while you paint?

Almost never. We work room by room so you keep the rest of the house, and we clean up at the end of each day rather than leaving the site open. The exception is if you are sensitive to paint smell and we are doing the whole interior at once — in that case most people stay elsewhere for a night or two.

Is one coat enough, or do I need two?

Two coats over a properly primed surface is the honest answer for most repaints, and it is what we quote. One coat can work when you are going over the same colour in the same sheen on a wall in good condition. Going lighter over a dark colour, or covering a patched area, will always want two.
